A Mechatronics Approach to the Design of Light-Weight Arms and Multifingered Hands

چکیده
The paper describes recent design and development efforts in DLR's robotics lab towards a new generation of ultra-light weight robots with articulated hands. The design of fully sensorized joints with complete state feedback and the underlying mechanisms are outlined. The second light-weight arm generation is available now, as well as the second generation of a worldwide most highly integrated 4 fingerhand is available now. Thus we hope that important steps towards a new generation of service and personal robots have been achieved.

Torque-controlled Light Weight Arms and Articulated Hands - Do We Reach Technological Limits Now?
In this paper we briefly address DLR’s (German Aerospace Center) background in space robotics by hand of corresponding milestone projects including systems on the International Space Station. We then discuss the key technologies needed for the development of an artificial “robonaut” generation with mechatronic ultra-lightweight arms and multifingered hands. The third arm generation is nearly fi...

The major purpose of this thesis is to discuss the various problems of the gra.sping and manipulation by robotic multifingered hands and arm-hand systems. This thesis consists of two parts. In the first part of Chapters 2 through 4, dliscussions are made on gra.sping and manipulation by multifingered hands. In the second part of Chapters 5 and 6, cooperative manipulations with grasping by macro...
متن کاملDynamics Simulation and Assembly Environment for Rapid Manipulator Design
Currently, DLR is developing its 3 generation of light-weight robots in modular design. This process includes the development of high performance drives, carbon fiber arm structures and novel wrist units. The robotics systems are dedicated for applications on ground as well as for future space missions. The robotic components are stored in a database that can be accessed via an assembly panel i...
متن کاملModeling Flexibility Effects in Robotic Arms Via the Modified 4x4 D-H Homogeneous Transformation
This paper presents a method for the kinematical modeling of robot manipulator arms with flexible members. Development of such techniques are important for the improvement of robotic arms precision performance and their mechanical design. The approach employs the (4X4) Denavit-Hartenberg homogeneous transformations to describe the kinematics of light weight flexible manipulator arms. The method...
متن کاملNew Legionella Control Options by UV and Violet LEDs for Hospitals and Care Facilities
Legionella infections caused by contaminated water are a widespread problem worldwide. Discharge lamps like mercury vapor lamps are widely known for the disinfection properties of their radiation, but they suffer technical disadvantages, like high voltages and toxic content, and are, therefore, not suitable for some infection control applications. New high-intensity ultraviolet (UV) an...
